 Understanding: According toOxford English Dictionary, news item text is a text which inform readers about events of the day (News item text is a type of text that provides information about daily events or events.News item is one of a kindtext in English which is used if you want to learn to be a reliable journalist.

The incident that is conveyed to the reader is an incident that is considered important and should be made into a news story. An incident that is not important or not worthy of being known by the public is not worthy of being made news. The communicative purpose of this type of text is to inform readers, listeners or viewers about events or events that are considered important or newsworthy.


news item divided into two types, viznews item delivered orally and in writing. Of course, we often find written types in various print media such as tabloids or daily newspapers. Fornews item orally, we often listen to it from electronic media such as radio or television.


The structure of the news item there are 3, namely:

1. Main event/Newsworthy events

Take it from the word "main" which means main, then "event" which means event, thenmain event is a paragraph that contains a summary of an event, aka the important events that becamehighlight to convey to readers.


2. Elaboration/Background Event

You still remember, right, what must be fulfilled in order for a text to be worthy of being said as news?Yap, the content should include 5W + 1H (what, where, when, who, why) and how. 

in short, background event It contains the background of the events that occurred. Starting from what and who was involved, where, when, why, and how the incident could happen. This structure must be written in full so that the reader can understand the entire text easily andvalue news can be conveyed properly.


3. Resource of Information (Source)

Have you ever read sentences that state testimony or expressions from other people in news texts? For example, the following news about the death of celebrity Didi Petet:

“He just arrived home on May 10 after attending the exhibition. In that city, he collapsed and lost consciousness and returned home in a wheelchair,” Line said.

Now, the example sentence above is calledsource, namely the part that contains the opinion of experts or eye witnesses. In addition, it can also be in the form of comments from various other parties involved.

Here is an example of the news I took: 

  1. Headline:Highly Anticipated Coldplay Concert Sparks Ticket War, Frauds, and Homophobic Debate in Indonesia
  2. Newsworthy Event : The November concert in Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium will mark the first time the band Coldplay is performing in Indonesia. Coldplay fans in Indonesia felt nervous and could not relax as they prepared to buy the tickets on 17 May 2023. They tried their best, but some didn't succeed. For many people, the tickets were flying away from their reach too quickly. Social media users posted screenshots that they could not even access the ticket website because over 500,000 people were on the waiting list already. 
  3. Background : 

  • What: Coldplay's concert in Indonesia has many stories starting from ticket wars, ticket purchase fraud, and in the end it was canceled.
  • When: the coldplay concert will be held in November 2023
  • who: the cold play member who often raises the rainbow flag typical of lgbt is Chris Martin
  • Where: this concert will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK)
  • Why: this concert was almost canceled because many parties wanted to cancel this concert for various reasons, firstly there were many incidents of ticket fraud via Jastip on Twitter, secondly because one of its members, Chris Martin, had supported gay rights. He frequently campaigns by waving the LGBT flag at Coldplay concerts

4.) Promoters promise a magnificent stage design
Harry Sudarma revealed that the concert titled Music of the Spheres World Tour will take place on a magnificent stage.
Although there are no details regarding the stage design, Harry is sure that the concert will be one of the biggest in Indonesia.
5.) Commitment related to environmental issues
Harry ensured that environmental issues had been discussed by the promoter with Coldplay's management. It's not just an environmental issue, promoters are also preparing sign language interpreters to make concerts more inclusive. 
"There are many things that are very concerned about and highly upheld by the band which we also have to appreciate," said Harry
